PEDIATRIC EYE EXAMS

JUST FOR KIDS.
An annual trip to the eye doctor is important to keep children healthy and ensure proper development. But, like any trip to the doctor, kids might be a little anxious. We have optometrists specially trained in pediatrics to make appointments something kids look forward to.
Our passion is to make sure your child has all the visual skills needed to see far and close comfortably, so they can be successful in the classroom, on the court or field, and in life. In-school or pediatrician vision screenings only scratch the surface. From glasses to contact lenses to specialized myopia control and vision therapy, our doctors have the best tools to maximize your child's performance in school, sports, music and beyond.
We love kids.
There's more to vision than seeing 20/20. Here's what we offer for pediatric vision exams at Visions:

INFANT EYE EXAMS
Our developmental optometrists participate in the InfantSEE® Program, which is an initiative by the American Optometric Association that provides a complimentary well-baby exam for infants 6–12 months of age.
These important infant eye exams check for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, eye coordination, and proper eye development.
PRESCHOOL EYE EXAMS
Your child’s vision goes through a lot of changes during their toddler years. Around age three, children start to develop interest in more academic-type tasks. This makes it important to ensure their visual system is functioning as it should be.
We make children’s eye exams comfortable and fun to help you get them ready for preschool.
CHILDREN’S EYE EXAMS
Most classroom learning happens visually. We’ll get your child ready for school by checking for proper eye teaming, tracking and focusing skills. Symptoms of learning-related vision problems can resemble dyslexia or ADHD so proper evaluation is important to avoid misdiagnosis.
In many cases, children's vision can be corrected with glasses. In others, we’ll recommend further testing in our Vision Therapy Center.
TEENAGE EYE EXAMS
Being a teen is demanding for the eyes. From clear vision for driving and seeing the smart board and comfortable vision on computers and tech devices, it’s vital to make sure their eyes are working properly. Teens can begin struggling with digital eye strain and dry eyes, which, left untreated, can follow into adulthood.
Proper vision correction can enhance your teen’s visual performance and attention for homework, comprehension, sports, driving, gaming, and more.

MYOPIA
MANAGEMENT
Nearsightedness in children is rising and with it comes an increased risk of eventual detached retinas, maculopathy, glaucoma, and cataracts. We’re certified providers of CooperVision’s Brilliant Futures™ Myopia Management Program, which uses MiSight soft contact lenses. These lenses are FDA-approved to compensate for nearsightedness, as well as provide treatment that reduces the rate of myopia progression in kids by 59%.

PEDIATRIC VISION EXAMS
“After bringing our infant in for a visit at Visions, we found out that he wasn’t really able to see very well. We had noticed his eyes seemed off, but we didn’t realize how much it affected his ability to crawl, reach for his food, and develop until he got his glasses. Once he could properly see, he was visually more engaged with us and his development soared!”
