Dr. Angela R. GulbransonDr. Angela R. Gulbranson received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD in 1996 and her doctorate degree in optometry from Indiana University in 2000. Ever since receiving her first pair
of glasses when she was in 7th grade, she knew she wanted to be an eye doctor and work with children. Once she began practicing as an optometrist and seeing children she saw a tremendous number of children who had vision disorders that were interfering with their ability to read and learn. As a result she pursued post graduate training in developmental optometry which also focuses on vision therapy.She has been practicing in Sioux Falls for over 10 years. Dr. Gulbranson is a member of many local, state and national professional organizations. Her special interests are in pediatrics, focusing on developmental optometry and vision therapy for reading and learning disabilities. Dr. Gulbranson is the founder of Visions Eye Care and Vision Therapy Center. In her free time, she enjoys, traveling and spending time with her family.
As a mother, she loves working with children and has a special way in reaching children who struggle with visual challenges.

Dr. Jennifer Hupke
Dr. Jennifer Hupke received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota and her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. Dr. Hupke’s passion for providing comprehensive vision care started when she received her first pair of glasses when she was in 3rd grade. 
Dr. Hupke is a member of many, local, state, and national professional organizations and was selected to the Beta Sigma Kappa Society based on her skills and achievements in the field of optometry. Jennifer has been practicing optometry in Sioux Falls for the past 7 years. Her husband and two daughters have happily made their home in Tea. Her special interests in optometry include specialty contact lenses and pediatric vision care. Outside of optometry, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
When asked what she enjoyed most about working at Visions, she shared, “Most people don’t realize that there are different types of eye exams. At Visions our exams are truly comprehensive. We look at more than the health of your eyes and whether or not you need glasses, we evaluate how your eyes function when you are working, reading, participating in sports or just enjoying life. We make sure your eyes are doing their job easily and not holding you back from achieving your goals.”
Dr. Jim King
Jim King graduated from Ohio State University, School of Optometry in 1955. He took his pre-optometry education at the University of Colorado, after graduating from Aberdeen Central High School in 1950.
Dr. King’s breadth and depth of service to the optometric profession is unique and inspiring. He was on the forefront of diagnostic and therapeutic privileges for South Dakota, served as President of the South Dakota Optometric Society, is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, chaired a local vision screening day for elementary school students for over 40 years, served as editor of the Focal Point newsletter for the South Dakota Optometric Society for 17 years, lectured extensively on children’s vision issues, contributed chapters in books, and helped form the South Dakota Association for Children with Learning Disabilities. He won five national awards in the Optometric Editors’ Association International Journalism contests. Dr. King received the Distinguished Service Award from the SD Optometric Society (SDOS) in 2005.
Dr. King is the “K” in MKM (Michael-King-Moorhead) Reading Systems, the phonic-mnemonic (memory-aiding) method of teaching reading, and has lectured in 33 states and Canada on vision, reading and memory. His own childhood struggles with vision and reading problems are perhaps the impetus for his research into the area of visual memory and reading. After, Arlene Moorhead retired and Dr. Michael died, Dr. King purchased the outstanding MKM stock and became President of MKM. He moved the corporate headquarters from Rapid City to Sioux Falls in 2008, where he continues to serve MKM accounts, write, lecture and consult on reading, memory and learning related visual problems.
